Snakes

A timber rattlesnake, 15 feet from where a tour group clustered around a large “chicken of the woods” mushroom.

A copperhead, the only other venomous snake in our area, right on the trail. I was distracted looking for mushrooms. The participants had to point it out!

Garter snakes, common at my morel spot. Non-venomous, but all snakes bite and can cause infection.
